#530 One Border at a Time

My book is out and now has made residency in cyberspace. Feel free to check it out here. https://a.co/d/6x0bSek It’s the story of an epic trip we took with our Chevy Suburban 1988 diesel 6.2 L engine (a beast) or blue cruiser. We left the USA in September that year, and pulled into the driveway of a small rental home, in the town of Obligado Paraguay November 2002 (three months later) We crossed 15 borders and learned a ton about ourselves and life from a traveler perspective. These borders have become light posts, beacons of some sort by which we have referenced other decisions over the years. Writing this book has been on my heart for years. I am thrilled that after two years of ups and downs, even with the idea of dropping the project altogether, the book finally found its way into print and hopefully into the hands of those who need a push and inspiration for their current life. For some it is marriage, for others it is an empty nest, maybe for the entrepreneurial mindset one, it&

#529. The President - Santiago Peña

For the next 5 years Paraguay will be led by Santiago and Leticia Peña. At age 44 Santiago has become the youngest president to take office in the democratic era of Paraguay.  The colorado (red) primaries were very contested between Santiago Pena and Arnoldo Wiens. Both were plausible candidates. Both, I believe would well represent this nation.  Santiago and his team, have lofty goals. Investing in education is high on their agenda. His first public event after asuncion, was visiting a public school, hanging out with students and reading stories to children. I say good for that, since Paraguay needs to invest heavily in education. Since February of 1989 when Alfredo Stroessner, the last and longest dictator in Latin American history was ousted, Paraguay has had a slow and painful journey towards government for the people.  The country celebrates, and hopes these coming years will bring another layer of development and growth to a nation that has been lagging behind its counterparts. I

Tampa Florida -- Local and Global Gathering

During the week of June 18th-27th, 2023, I participated of the annual Church of God convention in Tampa FL. Along with the conference a series of meetings took place. We meet with missionaries from around the world and at the end of the conference participated of a global dialogue. This event was a discussion on a new way of meeting and organizing international events associated with the Church of God, Anderson IN Besides, I was able to reconnect with friends from my college days. I even got to run a 5K fundraiser for global disaster and relief funds. These and other events made this conference a truly engaging and packed time of worship, fun and social-spiritual interactions.  The covid years, kept us isolated. This post-covid time is reenergizing, making us more present with people and probably more eager to be a part of events face to face. Here are some pics that better describe this event and the week in Tampa.  With pastor Keith and Nora Wilkins in Orlando With pastor Robert Conf
